№ 01 · About

We're building the tutor we wish we'd had.

The kind that sits beside you, watches your work, and never makes you feel slow for asking again. That's the whole idea behind SmartWit.

Why we started

Most students don't fall behind because they can't learn. They fall behind because the one tutor who'd explain it a sixth time, calmly, at the exact moment it stopped making sense — isn't in the room.

Good tutoring is expensive, scarce, and rationed by the clock. We thought the patience and the drawing and the asking-back could be made available to anyone, any hour, on the device already in their hand. So we built it — voice-first, whiteboard-native, and endlessly willing to start over.

№ 02 · What we believe

The rules we won't bend.

Ask, don't tell.

Handing over the answer is the fastest way to teach nothing. We build for the question that comes back at you, the one that makes you do the thinking yourself.

Show the working.

Understanding is visual. A tutor that draws as it speaks (graphs, shapes, each step appearing in time) beats a wall of text every single time.

Patience over speed.

Ask the same thing five times. Ask it at midnight. A real tutor never sighs, and neither does ours. The goal is the moment it clicks, however long that takes.

№ 03 · Who's building it

Madhur Singhal

Founder

I started out writing risk systems at Goldman Sachs, then became the first AI engineer at Level AI, where I built the language engine and ended up the named inventor on its intent-detection patent (US 12,361,933 B1). After that, two years on real-time digital humans — where a reply that lands half a second late stops feeling like a conversation.

All of it was the same narrow problem: getting a machine to hear you and answer fast enough that you keep talking. SmartWit is what happens when you point that at something I actually care about. I have always learned things by explaining them to somebody, and I think knowledge moving from one person to the next is the most reliable way the world gets better. The tutor at the top of this page is the one I wanted at thirteen and didn't have.

“Every student deserves a tutor who never gets tired of the question.
